Growing Up Green began as a Benton County Sanctioned project in 1999 when a group of Master Gardener volunteers formed a committee to plan a gardening outreach program to local elementary schools.   We previously conducted programs at Rogers East Side Elementary, Bentonville R.E. Baker, and Shining Star.  This year we'll work at  two schools, an ongoing program at Bentonville Gamble and Sunshine School, new this year.

The Mission of this committee is to assist the Benton County Extension Service in disseminating horticultural information to the youth, to stimulate an interest of plants and gardening in school age children, and to encourage the training of a new generation of gardeners.

This program is rewarding to the Master Gardeners and to the children we work with;  we share our enthusiasm and experience with the children and then watch them develop an interest in gardening.  It’s a great adventure for all.  We hope to have lots of members help with Growing Up Green.
