Each year Master Gardeners are placed into three categories. Each of these carries certain requirements. The categories are:
* Certified
* Sustainer with 7 years in good standing
* Lifetime Membership: Members who have achieved recertification for 15 years.
Sustainer members must request recalssification as Sustainers. As Sustainers no annual hours of work are required, but hours worked and miles traveled should be reported. Sustainers do no continue to receive credit toward such recognitions as 10 year awards.
For members requiring certification or re-certification, individuals should keep in their own personal file a detailed log of hours worked and miles traveled. The hours should be kept on an approved form.
There are three categories of hours worked, they are; County Sanctioned Projects (CSP), Other, and Learning. The number of hour required each year is contained in Article III of the By-Laws . Article IV states the hours are to be reported to the Membership Chairman. Only the total hours by category are to be reported to the Chairman, the detailed responsibility remains with the individual member.
In addition to hours, miles traveled for "Master Gardener Projects" are to be recorded and reported. Travel time however is not to be included as hours worked.
Master Gardeners have until December 31st of each year to meet their annual requirements. However all hours and miles earned to date are to be reported to the Membership Chairman by November 1 of each year. The early reporting is caused by fiscal year reporting requirements. This is used for evaluation of the Master Gardener Program locally, statewide, and nationally.
In addition, dues for the coming year are set each September and are to be paid by December 15th of the current year.
