Plans and executes the following opportunities for further learning in horticultural topics for the Benton County Master Gardeners and Benton County residents: MANAGES THE BCMG MONTHLY MEETING PROGRAM
* Updates and maintains the Master Gardener Speaker List and networks with other Arkansas Counties and Extension Office for new speakers * Arranges for potential speakers to present at monthly meetings * Submits bio’s of scheduled speakers to newsletter * Develops a working relationship with horticultural experts in the area * Researches what topics would be of interest for monthly meetings * Submits article on monthly topic to newsletter * Secures location for monthly meetings * Prints all supporting material for monthly meetings
PLANS HORTICULTURAL FIELD TRIPS FOR BCMG’S
* Researches and schedules opportunities for hands on education in the field * Arranges for Master Gardener garden tours supportive of monthly topic * Submits articles to newsletter on Master Gardener gardens in the spotlight * Coordinates info with hospitality committee, public relations, and web committee
WORKS WITH COUNTY 76 TO PROVIDE ADVANCED MG TRAINING CLASSES
* Uses County 76 research and club input to select a training topic * Determines breakeven point for tuition fees * Schedules speakers, location, and coordinates with treasurer to collect registration fees * Coordinates with Janet Carson’s office to notify Arkansas Master Gardeners of dates, times, etc… * Tracks enrollment * Provides local concierge for attendees
PLANS EDUCATIONAL CLINICS FOR BENTON COUNTY RESIDENTS
* Select topics, speakers, dates, and locations for clinics * Coordinate with public relations committee to get notice in newspapers * Act as support staff for events * Create and publish a Benton County Handbook detailing monthly garden chores/advice/plant selection to sell at events * Sell horticultural CD’s at events
